NREL SAM
SBBS utilizes Green Building Studio which allows for a detailed analysis of a 3D building model and the energy potential within the building based on construction and location. These potentials include solar, wind, and natural ventilation, allowing SBBS and its clients to compare various options for increasing efficiency and energy savings. LEED certification details are also available within Green Building Studio based on the specific 3D model being analyzed.
Annual Energy Production
Through the use of the NREL SAM tool, SBBS is able to evaluate the Annual Energy Production of a solar PV setup based on location, module type, inverter type, and overall system design. Predictions are made based on weather data for the specific location as well as system degradation. There are also capabilities for wind and geothermal system analysis.
Energy Loss Analysis
Energy Loss Analysis for PV, Wind, and Geothermal systems is available through NREL SAM. For example, PV energy loss analysis takes into account shading losses, snow losses, wiring losses, among other factors that contribute within the specified system.
Monthly Energy Production
Through the use of the NREL SAM tool, SBBS is able to evaluate the Monthly Energy Production of a solar PV setup based on location, module type, inverter type, and overall system design. It also has capabilities for wind and geothermal system analysis.
Project Cash Flow
The NREL SAM tool has detailed cost and cash flow analysis. As can be seen, one of the capabilities is to determine the after-tax cash flow for the project as a whole, as well as for the investor and developer for the specified life of the project. The detailed cost and pricing analysis within NREL SAM gives SBBS and its clients a way to determine costing and future benefits of a given system.
